Waterloo Street Indian Temple
I returned to Singapore and shot a series of montages on the Holga. I saw the potential of the images but did not get round to working on them as my office has been so busy. I have taken this Christmas day to work on some of the images. And here is a how I like it treated. It is much warmer now than the original scans. The original scans were very cold.

Savannah
Savannah is a model with Phantom. She wanted some edgy poolside shots and came to me.It was a challenge because I have only shot outdoors with lighting a couple of times. So the whole exercise was a learning experience, but a good one. :)

Lisa Eagles Figure Study I
Lisa was a student of mine from the last course and volunteered to pose for me. And we had a great time and we were both happy with the results.

Alex and Robert
I managed to get Alexandra Sklavos and Robert Mills into my studio to do dance shots with me. I am starting to play with my photography again and it feels good. But some things worked and some did not. But the great thing is that when I am doing things for myself, as opposed to paid work, I have more freedom to fail. And I think that the great images can only come about if there is the chance to experiment and fail as well. But this session started 3 days of great photography for me. Well at least it feels good!
Thanks Alex and Robert for playing with me. I hope to get more dancers into my studio to play!

Scarlet
For the third day of my course on Portraits as Visual Drama, my class spent the day at MOX with actors and danceers. This was my demo shot for my class. The dancer is an old friend of mine, Scarlet, from The Arts Fission company.

Scott Woodward Collage
Scott Woodward is a travel/editorial photographer that I met on Geoff Ang's Fashion course last year. I have been waiting to shoot him for a year now and I finally have. I think Scott has a great face for a portrait.

Ulla
Ulla is one my students from my intensive course, Portraits as Visual Drama. This was meant to be a simple demonstration shot. But somehow I think that Ulla is beautiful and I love this image.

Laura
Laura is an English model who came to model for my lighting course. I took some head shots for Phantom, the modelling agency. She is a true English beauty.

Singapore Dance Theatre behind the scenes
I am shooting the Singapore Dance Theatre in rehearsal, behing the scenes, raw. This has been my dream project for over six years since I became a professional photographer. Maybe longer, but circumstances have been against me up until now. Even now, I know that there are images that I love, that show a raw emotion in motion. Sometimes this goes against the ballet asthetics of clean lines, but as I danced and as I watched dance, it was not the moments of perfect stillness that called me, but the raw motion of life.
There will be an exhibition of the photographs that I have taken at Citylink, where I usually display my images from November 11 to the end of December.

Joshi And Thais
Joshi
Thais
Joshi and Thais. This is an amazing couple of models and I was fortunate to be able to do a test for them.
The lighting is actually quite simple, but the equipment was top notch. I was using profoto lights and took this studio series on the Hasselblad H2D with a 22megapixel back. Thais hair was done by Ivan of Insquare and the clothes were from Shilouette, the bridal atelier. Thais and Joshi are represented by Phantom in Singapore. I hate to say this, but the truth is, when you want to do simple classy things, top notch equipment is a must. Just like when you want to create a minimalist house, the finish must be top notch.
